New Troy has "options" that make the direct option and invasion style , off the table , while they may not have the human population of other citys . they do have drones .. and andriods , and a LOT of high tech goodys. and , the kicker is also there.
Ya know, an orbital kinetic strike on the emperor's tower would be simplest. Throw a few dozen tungsten-steel girders from high orbit towards the top of the tower and you stand a good chance of being rid of him. ;p
except that , it would kinda splatter Lynn too :P and turn the prince into a martyr..:) and also the "death from orbit is kinda how luna keeps people away .. ( oops )
quite , also remember that a "kentic kill" device is actually very slow , and has lots of warning, anti missle/object tech is very high considering the exchanges that took place in the wars. and Roma proably has anti orbital defences.
A kinetic kill device accelerates at 9.8 meters per second, and short of vaporization, you won't really do much by smashing it. Robert Heinlein gives a good sense of what kinetic vs nuke warfare would be like in "the moon is a harsh mistress."
The moon sent steel jacketed balls of rock at the Earth, and the resultant impacts were the equivalent of nukes. The Earth anti-missile defenses could shove the rocks sideways a bit, but that just changed the center of the devastation.
ok.. so.. rescue the girl.. raze the city to the ground.. remove the threat from the face of the planet... problem solved... no more nova roma.. no more problem.. I dont see any thing wrong with this..
Isn't gravity fun?
